The first generation of the Dakota was produced from 1987 through 1996. Straight-4 and V6 engines were offered along with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine remains the 3.7 liter V6 with 210 horsepower and 235 lb.-ft. of torque. |

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 was introduced at the January 2002 North American International Auto Show, but was not put into production until 2004. The first prototype was tested in December 1989. It first debuted in 1991 with three pre-production models as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 when Dodge was forced to substitute it in place of the Stealth, and went on sale in January 1992 as the soft roofed RT/10 Roadster. |

The Durango was launched as a mid-size SUV, just after the second generation Dodge Dakota on which it was based (during the late 1980s, Chrysler designers proposed building an SUV version of the Dakota pickup; this was shelved when the Jeep division was about to release the Jeep Grand Cherokee as their flagship SUV). |

The idea of a minivan was the brainchild of both Lee Iacocca and Hal Sperlich during their days at the Ford Motor Company. Henry Ford II denied Iacocca's and Sperlich's idea (and a prototype) of a minivan back in 1974. When Iacocca was in the midsts of turning around the then-ailing Chrysler Corporation, he and Sperlich (who had been scouted to Chrysler by Iacocca) and many others no doubt, created the T115 minivan. The T115 ultimately was christened Caravan and Voyager. |

The Avenger has returned for 2008 as a sedan to replace the aging Dodge Stratus, whose coupe version had replaced the original Avenger in 2001. The Avenger, along with the redesigned Chrysler Sebring, shares a DaimlerChrysler/Mitsubishi Motors platform called the GS. For the new cars, the GS platform is stretched in size and known as the JS. |

The Dodge Nitro is compact SUV from the Dodge division of Chrysler LLC. Launched for the 2007 model year at the Chicago Auto Show, the Nitro shares its platform with the Jeep Liberty. It is assembled at the Toledo North Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio. This Jeep facility is part of a complex including the Toledo South Assembly Plant, home to the Jeep Wrangler since the 1940s. The Nitro competes with compact SUVs such as the Nissan Xterra, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota FJ Cruiser and Jeep Liberty, and also with compact crossover SUVs such as the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V. |
